*The Stoughton organizers of Muddy Creek Baptist church may be Catherine Covert Stoughton, her sons Jacob and Andrew, and her brother in law Samuel Stoughton (who later became a Baptist minister). It is more likely however that the Catherine Stoughton mentioned is Catherine McCune, wife of Samuel Stoughton.
