They are listed as living with eight children: daughter Nancy Gallagher, 22; son James Gallagher, 18; daughter Mahala Gallagher, 16; daughter Amelia C.[L?] Gallagher, 15; daughter Matilda Gallagher, 12; son Robert S. Gallagher, 10; son Washington Gallagher, 8; and son Henry Gallagher, 6. The elder James is listed as a farmer and as having been born in Ireland. The remainder of the family is listed as born in PA. James is listed as unable to read or write. All of the children except Nancy are listed as having been in school that year.

11	Elsie Crayton Segura personal correspondence, May 2000. John Gallagher married to Margaret, from County Down, Ireland. Son James Gallagher of Co. Donegal Ireland married to Mary Albright. Children of James Gallagher & Mary Albright include Amelia Cratin Gallagher, married Dinwiddie McCullough. The daughter of Amelia Cratin Gallagher & Dinwiddie McCullough, Jane Ann McCullough, married Joseph Pierce Hockenberry. Jane & Joseph Hockenberry had a daughter named Amelia Cratin Hockenberry, who was a grandmother to correspondent Elsie Crayton Segura. Speculation: The name Creighton is prevalent among the descendants of James Gallagher; his mother Margaret's maiden name, or his grandmother's maiden name could have been Creighton. Many Creightons reside in County Down Ireland. Other ancestors of Elsie C. Segura include William Hunter, who married Mary Wilson. Mary survived to age 104 in Butler Co. PA. Mary Wilson & William Hunter had A daughter Jane Hunter who married Matthew McCullough. Their son Dinwiddie McCullough married Amelia Cratin Gallagher. Mary Albright's father was possibly Solomon Albright, resident of Venango Co. PA. (Source as yet not supplied).

Source Notes

• No census data can be found for 1870; census records for Mary Albright can't be searched without knowing father's name.
• Daughter Amelia indicates that her mother was born in Germany in the 1910 census.

Conjecture

• Contributor Elsie C. Segura believes that Venango Co. PA resident Solomon Albright may be the father of Mary Albright. Her records (sources unrecorded) show a daughter Mary among his children. He resided in Pinegrove Twp., Venango Co. PA. ( This is on the northeast side of Venango Co., north of Clarion Co., so does not border Butler County). No obituary was found; no will filed at Venango Co. courthouse. In 1850 census a Solomon Albright with wife Elizabeth found in Berks Co. PA; however other records indicated Solomon Albright died in 1848. The following family was assembled by Elsie Segura, sources unknown:

Solomon Albright was born Nov 02, 1788 in Pa., and died Jul 16, 1848 in Pinegrove Twp. Venango Co., Pa. He married (1)Elizabeth Shoemaker. He married (2) Maria Miller Feb 27, 1814 in 1792. She was born 1792 in Berks Co., Pa., and died bef. Jan 27, 1845. Children of Solomon Algright and Maria Miller:
