Faye McClellan and a brother, Jesse C. McClellan, Jr, were born in Oklahoma to Clara Louise Beals and Jesse C. McClellan. When Faye was four years old, her mother became fatally ill. Clara Louise arranged for her sister Lillian Mae Beals Shannon to raise Faye in Emlenton, PA. The Shannons had two daughters already, Olive, aged 15 yrs., and Edith, aged 5 yrs.
