[edit] NOT A DIRECT ANCESTOR Dimitris Vergitakis is not in my direct ancestry. He is part of an in-law line, as follows: Father-in-law of Ruth M. Wilson Sister of John Thomas Wilson Daughter of Bert Winiford Wilson and Clara Mabel Wimer

Dimitris Vergetakis and wife Maria farmed in the village of Krousonas, which is about 25 miles south of Iraklion, Crete. They had seven children: three sons (Giannis, Michalis, Giorgios) and four daughters ( Athina, Katerina, Kristali, Kyrgiakoula). The youngest son, Giorgios, born 1900 in Krousonas, immigrated in 1916 to New York and thence to western Pennsylvania, becoming a small business owner. He and wife Ruth Wilson had four children, named after Giorgios' parents and his two brothers. He changed his name to George Vergis
