Edmond Brady "Bub" Williams was born and raised in Charlotte, NC. He worked for Pump and Lighting Company for most of his adult life, at first in Charlotte and then in Asheville, NC and Spartanburg, SC. He married Jetta King who he met at a skating rink, in 1941, shortly before the US entered World War II. He entered the army and served as a radioman in a forward deployed antiaircraft unit, going ashore in Normandy on about June 16, 1944 and ending the war near the Esser River in April, 1945. He loved to fish in the surf and went often with friends to the North Carolina Outer Banks. He and Jetta returned to Charlotte in 1962 and lived there until his death in 1986

Williams, 34, and their five children: son John D. Williams, Jr., 14; son Edmond B. Williams, 13; daughter Vivian C. Williams, 11; son Donald Lee Williams, 3 years and 4 months; and son Robert S. Williams, 2 years and 5 months. The family does not live on a farm. At the time of their marriage, John D. Williams was 21 and Brady C. Williams was 18. John D. Williams, Jr., Edmond B. Williams, and Vivian C. Williams attended school within the census year. Everyone but Donald L. Williams and Robert S. Williams can read and write, and everyone except Robert S. Williams can speak English. Everyone and their parents were born in NC. John Duncan Williams' occupation is listed as "[illegible] artist." This census page is dated 9 Apr 1930.
