Archibald's father was John Leckie. John Leckie's (or Archibald's ?) parents came to Canada with their first child. John Leckie survived fighting in World War I. He worked as a bricklayer. His children included four sons: Archibald Crawford Leckie b. 1913; John Leckie Jr. who died fighting in WWI, & is buried in Normandy; a son 2 years younger than Archie; Melvin (2 years older than Archie) who also died & is buried in Normandy, WWI. John Leckie's parents were from Scotland. His wife Margaret Crawford's parents were from outside Glasgow, Scotland, near Stirling Castle. They owned apartment buildings in Edinburgh. |
