[edit] Source notes
- Child Isaac Patterson appears at age 14 in the 1860 census, but is not mentioned in the 1850 census. Research needed to rule out that he could have been a child of 2nd wife Mary Cooper & adopted by Patterson.
- Childred Alvira b. 1860 and Phoebe b. 1860 are either twins, or more likely, one individual (as Alvira Phoebe, or Phoebe Alvira Patterson). Alvira appears in the 1860 census; Phoebe in 1870. Lowe Phillips website lists them as 2 individuals.
- Burial site of John Patterson & Hannah Stoughton listed by Lowe Phillips as Zion Baptist cemetery, Butler Co. PA; we assume this to be Mt. Zion Baptist in Franklin Twp.
- Re. source documents relating to the estate of Jacob Stoughton: John Stoughton,(son of John & Catherine Stoughton), indicates he agreed to pay John Patterson for some loans after Mrs. Catherine Stoughton, John's mother, died. The property was then to be sold and John Patterson was to be paid.
When the land was put up for sale on September 1, 1857, John Stoughton had died (in 1852) and James S. Stoughton was assisting with settling the estate. John Patterson was then paid.
