Pearl Wilson was said by family members to have been very pretty. She was the second child and only daughter of her parents, Jim & Ella Wilson. During her lifetime, the family lived on a farm in Brady Twp., Butler Co. PA. Pearl grew up knowing several Wilson and Stoughton aunts and uncles, and a raft of cousins, all residing in northwestern Butler County.
Pearl never knew her maternal grandmother, Mary Jane McCandless (Stoughton), who had died in 1882, the year before Pearl was born. Her other grandparents all outlived her, (Lot Wilson d. 1906, Nancy Gallagher (Wilson) d. 1904, John C. Stoughton d. 1902).
Pearl died one month short of her 15th birthday from a bee sting infection. (It was said not to have been an allergic reaction, but an actual infection that developed.) The family acquired a plot and she was buried at Muddy Creek cemetery, where her older brother and eventually her parents were also buried.
