 The gravestone of William H. and Mary Anne McCandless is located at Muddy Creek Cemetery, on the left fairly near the entrance. It has inscription on two sides. Their plot contains an additional two stones, presumably their children although not listed in Ferree's ''The McCandless and Related Families''. Transcribed in 2006 by Elizabeth W. Williams, they read "H. (R.?) B. McCandless" and "M. James son of W.H. & M.A. McCandless died ___ 1859"
