Judy's research focuses on Franz Etzel (Oetzel) & wife Anna Kuhnemuth, & their son William Jacob Etzel, Sr. & Emma Lena Pfaff Etzel; published small book on this research. She noted that in 1997, Lois Reiter of guy's Mills, PA published "The Saga of the Etzels and Hanels of Clarion County, regarding Franz & Annie, their son Johann Conrad Etzel, and their daughter Alice Elisabeth Etzel who married Henry William Pfaff. "In that section she lists Sarah who married George Spears, Sr. Therefore, they are part of the Frank Etzel-Anna kuhnemuth line. Although the children of Valentine Pfaff include a Henry and a William, they don't seem to be the Henry William who married Alice Elisabeth Etzel. More research to follow..."

* Per Judy King, the Frederick ancestors of Emma Lena Pfaff originated in Pfaffenbeerfurth in Odenwald, Hessen. Some of them spent time in Carlyle, PA. They do not appear to be related to our direct line ancestry Frederick family.
