Samuel, reputedly born in Adams Co. PA, came to Worth Twp., Butler Co. in 1798 with his parents at the age of 6 years.  He married Elizabeth Hines, born in Ireland in 1793, a daughter of Richard Hines.  Samuel and Elizabeth eventually settled on a farm on the south bank of Slippery Rock Creek, directly south of Moore's Corners.  Their children were Samuel Jr. b. 1829; Mary Jane, b. 1830; Abner b. 1833; and George b. 1835.  Samuel died 1 Apr. 1873. Elizabeth Hines Wimer died 1 Sept. 1882. They had been members of the Wolf Creek Seceder Church, and were buried in the Wolf Creek cemetery.

 Samuel and wife Elizabeth named their first child Samuel. The 1883 History of Butler County records that he died from a heavy fence rail falling on him. He apparently died as a young child, from the fact that the next son, also named Samuel was born in 1829, and by the 1830 census there is only one male child.  The 1883 History is the only record of this child, and his burial place is unknown.
