-The Fillgrove family was from Hanover,Germany, leaving Hanover four years after annexation by Prussia.   The name appears in older church records in Pennsylvania as Pfuhlgraff & variants. The given name "Louis" is French in origin, the German counterpart being Ludwig. German records of this family have not been seen by us. The Pfulgraff name was quickly Anglicized, so possibly "Ludwig" was also. <br>The 1920 census lists Louis Fillgrove as born in Hanover. He indicates his parents were also born in Hanover, a city on the Leine River in Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen). As they were farmers it is likely they were from the area around Hanover rather than from the city itself. Louis would have been about ten years old at time of immigration, given as 1870 in the census of 1900.  As he and his sister Mena both appear in the (August) 1870 census in Clarion Co. PA, but residing with another family also from Hanover, and as his parents have not yet been located in that census, it is possible but not certain that these two children immigrated ahead of their parents.
