''John Gallagher, Jr.'' was born in Ireland, County Donegal, in about 1783. He came with his parents [[John Gallagher|John]] and Margaret Gallagher to Butler County, Pennsylvania around the turn of the century and lived with them in Muddy Creek township for some years. He subsequently settled on a farm in what became Franklin township where he lived next to his parents and near his brother John.
